Apprenticeship Summary

To provide administrative support and services to all members of the Practice team. The post requires patient contact, common sense and a duty of confidentiality. The post holder must possess excellent communication, interpersonal and persuasive skills. The post holder must be organised, enthusiastic, have excellent customer care skills and be able to work accurately and calmly in a pressurised environment. The post involves liaising with GPs and other medical/support services. The post holder would work collaboratively in both the administration office and reception teams.

This role will be widely varied and will involve task such as:

  • Data entry using bespoke software, facilitating and attending clinical meetings and setting up meeting space, taking minutes.
  • Working collaboratively in a large team and being trusted to work accurately and independently on tasks set by your line managers.
  • You will need to utilise customer service and problem solving skills on a daily basis.
  • You will be working to tight deadlines and will handle large quantities of sensitive data. You will need to prioritise your work load.
  • You will be putting information on to patient’s medical records and will be responsible for the accuracy of this data.
  • You will have a high quantity of interactions with the public and medical professionals on a daily basis and you should conduct yourself in a professional manor at all times.

This role is office based and will involve prolonged periods of working on computers using bespoke software. You will need to treat any and information you handle with strict confidentiality. You will be patient facing at times and will need to deal politely, calmly and helpfully when handling people’s complex health needs as well as help the practice maintain a good reputation and uphold government set targets.

Requirements and Prospects

GCSE Math and English grades A to C / 9 to 4 or the equivilant (Functional Skills Level 1 or 2)
