About the Course

As an Infrastructure Technician you will provide technical support to internal and external customers, by using tools to problem solve and trouble shoot non-routine problems. You will ensure all employees are set up on the relevant systems and will be on hand to provide support where needed, rectifying any issues to maintain the organisations productivity.

As part of this apprenticeship you will gain skills in communication, IT security, data, remote infrastructure and problem solving. You will also develop working knowledge of a range of cabling and connectivity,  various types of antennas and wireless systems and IT test equipment.

Future employment roles for you may include Help Desk Technician, First or Second Line Support and IT Infrastructure Technician or Network Support.


What Will I Study?

As part of this apprenticeship you will learn;

  • A working knowledge of a range of cabling and connectivity, the various types of antennas and wireless systems and IT test equipment
  • Maintenance processes and how to apply them in working practices
  • The basic elements and architecture of computer systems
  • The relevant networking skills necessary to maintain a secure network
  • The similarities, differences and benefits of the current Operating Systems available
  • How to operate remotely and how to deploy and securely integrate mobile devices
  • An understanding and working knowledge of Cloud and Cloud Services
  • The importance of disaster recovery and how a disaster recovery plan works 
  • The similarities and differences between a range of coding and logic.

Skills you will gain include communication, IT security, remote infrastructure, data, problem solving, workflow management and health and safety.

What Will I Need?

You will need Five GCSEs (including English, maths and a science or technology subject) plus a relevant Level 2 Apprenticeship.

Similar relevant qualifications or experiences will be considered in the absence of Level 2, alternatively you will need to pass an aptitude test with a focus on IT skills.
