Certificate in Digital Promotion for Business

Qualification: NCFE Certificate or Award in Digital Promotion for Business
Duration: 9 weeks

About the course

This course is designed to prepare learners for a career in digital marketing. This is done by sharing essential knowledge that enables businesses to promote themselves online and compete with each other and help increase business revenue.

Civil Service Interview Preparation

Qualification: SFEDI Level 1 Certificate in Personal Enterprise and Self Marketing.
Duration: 6 days over two weeks
Location: Online using Microsoft Teams

About the programme

A 6-day online programme aiming to prepare participants for the Civil Service recruitment process.

This includes:

  • An introduction to the range of testing methods used by the service to recruit including; Psychometric testing principles and the Success Profile Framework, Verbal Reasoning, and situational Judgement testing which is used in selection.
  • Support with researching the range of opportunities within the Civil Service
  • Identifying relevant job roles, and completing the application and form.
  • Develop a personal statement (based on success profiles) and prepare for an online interview using the STAR technique.
  • Online interview practice and receive developmental feedback.

Who is this programme for:

The programme is suitable for participants with strong customer service skills, as well as good maths and English. Participants will want to apply for a range of Civil Service roles, although the course helps prepare for any successful job application experience.

Entry Requirments:

  • A minimum of Level 1 English and maths skills. This will be assessed on the screening day.
  • Participants must be unemployed or on a low wage.
  • Participants must be living in the UK for the last three years. If from the EU you must have been living in the UK since 1 January 2021*.

*Proof of residency (ie passport/Settled Status/Pre-Settled Status etc). Proof of address and the latest statement of state benefits will be required at enrolment, (eg Universal Credit, Job Seeker’s Allowance or Income Support)

What participants need:

  • A current CV, available electronically.
  • Access to a laptop or computer with a camera and internet access and be able to download Microsoft Teams.

Assessment:

Assessment is through the completion of three online workbooks and tutor observation. Assessment will be of both practical and theoretical activities, based on research undertaken on the course.

What happens after the programme:

Once participants have completed the programme they will have access to:

  • The National Careers Service, linked to the Job Centres, and their support with application forms, psychometric testing, and further interview practice.
  • A variety of accredited courses to support any gaps in CVs and applications, as required, such as Principles of Customer Service, Information, Advice or Guidance, Equality and Diversity, and Principles of Business Administration.

Cleaning Certificate

Qualification: Level 1 Certificate in Introduction to the Facilities Industry – Customer Service.
Duration: 6 days
Location: Varied, 9.30am – 4pm

About the course

A 6-day course to prepare candidates for cleaning within the STM Group.

Candidates will gain:

  • An understanding of basic cleaning principles and how the role fits within the Facilities Services Industry.
  • Customer service skills are required, as part of this job role.
  • An understanding of the requirements of the job role, the service standards and expectations.
  • Health and Safety and COSHH. PPE and Customer Service.
  • An opportunity to practice interview skills and support to complete the online application process.

Who is this programme for:

Those working within cleaning services.

Entry Requirments:

  • Participants must be unemployed or on a low wage.
  • Participants must be living in the UK for the last three years. If from the EU you must have been living in the UK since 1 January 2021*.

*Proof of residency (ie passport/Settled Status/Pre-Settled Status etc). Proof of address and the latest statement of state benefits will be required at enrolment, (eg Universal Credit, Job Seeker’s Allowance or Income Support)

Assessment:

Completion of short workbooks/questions at the end of each unit.

What happens after the programme:

Once candidates have completed the programme they will have access to:

  • Full-time positions are based in railway stations across London.

Digital Promotions for Business Use

Qualification: NCFE Certificate or Award in Digital Promotion for Business
Duration: 9 weeks
Location: Blended

About the course

This course covers the skills to succeed in an ever-evolving digital media industry and is taught alongside the fundamentals of business which will prepare participants for a job within the sector. Designed to prepare participants for a career in digital marketing by sharing essential knowledge that enables businesses to promote themselves online and compete with each other and help increase business revenue.

Entry Requirments:

  • Entry 3 English & Maths – tested during enrolment
  • Must be 19 or over
  • Lived in the UK or EU in the last 3 years and able to provide evidence to prove this
  • Live in Greater London (or non-devolved budget areas in England)
  • Passport or EU ID and proof of state benefits, if applicable*.

Assessment:

A portfolio for each unit and one assignment for each chosen optional unit

Employment into roles such as a social media assistant and Digital Marketing apprenticeship.

Essential Digital Skills

Qualification: Level 1 Certificate in Digital Skills
Duration: 6 days
Location: TBC

About the course

This course aims to develop candidates’ digital skills so they understand how to protect devices and data, communicate socially and professionally using technology, and how to use digital resources to facilitate their own career progression.

Units include:

  • Using and managing information
  • Keeping yourself and others safe when using digital devices
  • Communicating and collaborating online
  • Digital career development

Entry Requirments:

  • Must be 19 or over
  • Lived in the UK or EU in the last 3 years and able to provide evidence to prove this
  • Live in Greater London (or non-devolved budget areas in England)
  • Passport or EU ID and proof of state benefits, if applicable*.

IT for Beginners

Qualification: City & Guilds Entry Level 3 Certificate in Start IT
Duration: 12 days

About the course

This course is designed for those with little or no computer experience, who wish to build up skills to use computers for everyday life in the digital world.   

This includes:

  • Practical training in Microsoft programme; Word (word processing), Excel (spreadsheets), and managing a diary using the Outlook calendar.
  • Use of mobile devices, the internet, emailing and computer basics including file management.

The skills can be used for job search and job applications and to update CVs as well as using the ‘Find a Job’ site.

Introduction to Self-Employment and Working from Home

Qualifications:  SFEDI Level 1 Certificate in Gateway to Independent and Remote Working.  Duration: 6 days, 10am – 3.30pm Location: Online through Microsoft Teams.

About the course

This online course offers an opportunity to find out more about how to use your skills to find work through the internet, in the so-called ‘gig economy’ (e.g. eBay, Task Rabbit, Etsy).  We will look at your current skills, including those gained through hobbies and explore how to use these to earn an income or generate additional income.

Content includes

  • The World of Remote Working
  • Profile writing and getting customers
  • Building a long-term career.

What you will need:

You will not need to spend money on new resources for this course, but you will need access to a computer and the Internet.

Assessment

Build a portfolio of work covering the units above.

What’s next after the course:

  • Examples of work available include office work/admin, customer service, translating, gardening, pet care any kind of handiwork.  
  • You can progress to the Social Media course to promote your idea further and onto other courses to help you set up your business or apply for the New Enterprise Allowance.

About the course

This course includes effective use of Social Media, such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and more, to build professional networks and promote skills to find work.

  • How to use social media to engage with an audience.
  • How to set up social media for business use.
  • How to create and maintain content to publish for business use.

SIA – Security

Qualifications: HABC Level 2 Award in Door Supervision, NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Employability, Level 2 Certificates in Understanding Behaviour that Challenges Mental Health First Aid and Advocacy in the Workplace
Duration: 16 Days

About the course

This programme includes qualifications related to the Security Officer Job role. It is a pre-employment programme leading to an SIA Security qualification suitable for a range of employers.

Including

  • Principles of Working in the Private Security Industry including the recent counter-terrorism legislation;
  • Principles of Working as a Door Supervisor in the Private Security Industry;
  • Emergency First Aid at Work – CPR; Working with a defibrillator; how to deal with people with a variety of minor and major accidents.
  • Understanding mindset, interview skills, business and customer awareness and CV Writing.
  • Understanding Behaviour that Challenges – Understanding behaviour that challenges; how to support positive behaviour; understanding the importance of effective communication and the management of behaviour that challenges; understanding the role of reflection and support for those involved in incidents of behaviour that challenges.
  • Mental Health First Aid and Advocacy in the Workplace:  exploring mental health; understanding how to support individuals with mental health; understanding a mentally healthy environment.
  • Support in applications for the SIA licence

Entry Requirements:

  • Level 1 literacy and good verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Must be 19 or over
  • Unemployed and in receipt of state benefits, including UC, JSA and IS or those on an income of less than £21,157.50 who are available for the full training programme.
  • Lived in the UK for five years and proof of where you have lived at this time and have a current passport. 
  • Passport or EU ID and proof of state benefits, if applicable*.

Assessment:

The HABC Door Supervisor’s Award is assessed through 3 practical assessments and four externally assessed multiple choice tests and the completion of a written assessment and two question and answer sessions.  The practical elements will be filmed.

SFEDI Personal Enterprise and Self Marketing

Qualifications: SFEDI Personal Enterprise and Self Marketing

Functional Skills are English and maths qualifications that will equip you with the practical skills needed to live, learn and work successfully.

Who is the course for:

Anyone who has not achieved a GCSE, grades A-C, or 4-9, in mathematics and English can work towards
level 2 Functional Skills free of charge.

ESOL (English for Speaker of Other Language
