Apprenticeships

Why Choose an Apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships allow you to earn whilst you learn. Whether you’re a new employee, or an existing employee studying an apprenticeship to boost your knowledge and skills, they can increase your career prospects. Here are the reasons why people say they choose to study an apprenticeship:

1. You can earn whilst you learn

As an apprentice, you will be paid at least minimum wage for apprentices (at least £3.90 per hour for those aged under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year).

2. You can study at different levels

There are various types of apprenticeships available:

  • Intermediate apprenticeship: Level 2 – equivalent to five A*-C GCSEs
  • Advanced apprenticeship: Level 3 – equivalent to two A-levels
  • Higher apprenticeship: Levels 4 – 7 – equivalent to a foundation degree and above
  • Degree apprenticeship: Levels 6 & 7 – full bachelors or master’s degree
  • Traineeships: A separate education and training programme with work experience helping prepare young people to secure an apprenticeship or another job.

3. You gain work experience

Every apprenticeship scheme is designed by the employers within the industry, so you are actively working whilst learning – it’s not just reading from textbooks, you learn as you are actually doing your job.

4. You can boost your career prospects

Each apprenticeship offered at Capital City College Training is tailored to meet the needs of your employer, so you’ll gain invaluable experience, and increase your prospects of progressing within the organisation.

5. You achieve qualifications

All apprenticeships offer industry-recognised qualifications and accreditations, as well as practical skills. Most require you to have English and Maths qualifications and, if you don’t have them already, will allow you gain them.
